My Moleskine Journals - Yet to be Filled!

Moleskine - not to be confused with moleskin - is a maker of notebooks, journals and date books. Their journals have been the legendary choice of artists, writers, intellectuals and travelers worldwide, including the famous American writer, Ernest Hemmingway who wrote a book about his time in Paris that traces his footsteps through the City of Light, called A Moveable Feast.

Anyway, when I was at my local Barnes & Noble bookstore buying une carte de Paris, I also purchased a set of two Moleskine journals. I am a writer by trade - I write advertising copy, and have done this for nearly a quarter of a century - with two degrees in English Literature and Creative writing. A frustrated novelist? Perhaps. I originally thought I would not write about Paris, merely photograph it and enjoy it ... and here I am, writing a blog about it, holding in my possession two empty Moleskine journals, in lovely shades of green.
My promise to you: I will write in them when I get to Paris and share with you my observations, delights and thoughts upon my return! You see, I won't be blogging or online during my trip.

And today is a special day; it is exactly five months to the day until I leave for Paris.
Enjoy YOUR day!

My fiancé has written some of his novels in Moleskine notebooks. I got him a calendar one for Christmas this last year, too, for 2010. They are wonderful. (Now I need one for ME, lol.)

Also, A Moveable Feast is wonderful. I read it this past year and I am looking forward to going on this walk one of these days:
Paris Walks Hemingway Tour (every Friday). I love the part where he is traveling with Fitzgerald... It is a riot. :)

I don't have a ton of time now to peruse your blog, but I WILL! Thanks so much for coming to mine.

Five months!! Yay!! If you need a pal to see some sights with you, let me know. :)

Take care,
Karin

Great green moleskine color! I love the tactile qualities of those little notebooks. They hold so much potential in their little blank pages. :-)

These are lovely. My boyfriend gave me one for just this purpose when we went to Paris this past Christmas. It turned out to be very handy for jotting down on the fly impressions (smells, tastes, sounds) that might have eluded me later. It's just as well that you're planning on blogging when you get back. I tried to blog on-scene from an i-Phone and just couldn't get the wi-fi connection to work. Fortunately my inner clock was so off when I got back I was able to stay up all night and knocked out 32 posts in one sitting. If you are looking for some ideas on what to do, see, etc. the posts are all still there at http://joyeuxnoelyall.blogspot.com
This was my third trip so I didn't do as much of the "touristy" stuff. I lived more like a local and saw the more out of the way sights. I must say it was my favorite trip.

This is one of my first purchases made upon arrival in Paris - I use it to jot down key French phrases that I learn!

I wanted to contact you as well, but did not have your email address. I would like to introduce you to a new website recently launched that I work for: http://lebestofparis.com/. The website shares the best restaurants, gourmet stores, shopping boutiques, events, exhibitions, and activities for kids in Paris to the English-speaking community in Paris. This beneficial resource contains useful and selective information about high-quality places in Paris, hopefully making their lives a little bit more manageable with this guide to Paris’ secret leisure.

We would love to be added to your “Paris Blogs that Inspire" category if you deem us worthy and enjoy our site. We would obviously extend the same courtesy from our end and place a link on our website.

Thank you very much and we look forward to hearing from you in the near future!

Best,
Kacee
